In part one, we explored the toxic legacy of radioactive waste in Rocky Flats, Colorado. Today, we look into the toxic legacy of radioactive waste in Grand Junction, Colorado, west of the Great Divide, on the banks of the Colorado River. Grand Junction is a one stop shop for examining the impacts of most aspects of Uranium production. In a circle, less than 75 miles across, centered on Grand Junction, we have Uranium Mines, Millsites, widespread toxic Uranium Tailings, a few actual nuclear detonation sites, and a large Toxic Waste Facility. Given the scope and breadth of the problem, it is amazing it is not more often discussed.
